Welcome to the Staten Island Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) website. It is a great honor to serve as President for the 2024-2026 term and I am excited to continue the legacy of this extraordinary organization. NCNW has a rich history of advocating for African American families and communities, and it is my privilege to carry this important work forward.
The current theme of the National Council of Negro Women is “Advancing Equity and Empowerment for Women, Their Families, and Communities.” This mission resonates with our goals here in Staten Island as we focus on health and wellness, education, community engagement, and economic development—key areas essential to the progress and well-being of our community.
Our approach will not only uplift women and mothers but empower the family as a whole, from parents to children. By supporting and strengthening every member of the family, we create a more unified community that is better prepared to face the challenges ahead.
Additionally, we are committed to building strong alliances with other community-based organizations that share our values. By working together, we can put forth a collective effort to build, strengthen, and enrich the Staten Island community. This collaboration will allow us to maximize our impact and create lasting change.
I look forward to working alongside all of you as we continue this important journey. Together, we will advance equity, empower families, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Sincerely,
Beth Coleman Oliver
President, National Council of Negro Women – Staten Island Section
